I’ve got a throwback for you that’s really close to my heart.
MANY years ago, I had a semi-successful YouTube channel. It’s now long defunct, but back then, I’d take viewers on tours of my gaming memorabilia collection, review my all-time favorite games, and, in some cases, dive into the world of gaming literature. This was the spark that eventually led to what you now know as The Video Game Library.
One of my very first projects was something I’m still incredibly proud of: I set out to take the deepest dive on the internet into specific issues of retro Video Game magazines.
I would break down every single page in a crazy amount of detail. I’d transport myself back to the headspace of the 90’s, dissecting the news, reviews and previews, and how they compared to other magazines. Through (an insane amount of) research I’d chronicle the history behind each of the advertisements. I got into the heads of the reviewers, highlighting their unique quirks, and unearthed some hidden Easter eggs that I guarantee you won’t find anywhere else.
